Substance abuse continues to plague our communities, often having disastrous consequences. SANCA’s Treatment and Prevention Programmes are viewed as effective methods of changing behaviour and attitudes as well as raising awareness about trends in society.  The need for substance abuse programmes has long been established. Substance abuse in South Africa and in our area is a growing and worrying trend. There are many types of drugs available and it is not only illegal drugs that are a cause for concern. Our focus has shifted to the rural areas, thus reaching the previously disadvantaged and under serviced communities.

 

Alcohol and drug dependency are two of the most destructive elements eroding the foundation of society today. The effects of alcoholism on our economy are staggering, with billion plus per annum lost on absenteeism arising from chemical dependency.
